Vineyard Notes

We continue the tradition of blending numerous vineyard lots throughout Washington State for this popular Bordeaux blend. The backbone vineyard for the Merlot in Interlude comes from Canoe Ridge, in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. Canoe Ridge sits on the high banks of the Columbia Valley and is known for its bright red aromatics. Another major supplier for this blend is Seven Hills Vineyard in Milton-Freewater, Oregon, which falls in the Walla Walla Valley AVA. The majority of wineries in Walla Walla source from Seven Hills, and we continue to do so for the same reason – mature, consistent and top quality farming practices that base this right-bank blend.

Winemaking Notes

The percentage mix for 2007 remains the same - 53% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc. The bright red fruit profile is complimented by earthly flavors and aromas of gravel and dust, in addition to savory herbs of sage, parsley, rosemary and thyme. You will enjoy a lush, creamy mouth feel and a long, fruity finish.

Known for being our most charming wine upon release, this wine is also capable of aging gracefully for many years. So this every day wine is full of versatility – sip it, pair it, pound it, age it…you name it, it all works. We experienced a phenomenal growing season in 2007, resulting in the 2007 vintage being the best in ten years. Winemaker Jamie Brown touts this as our best Interlude yet!
